Patsy Marie Jones Long, 84

| February 19, 2022 1:00 AM

Patsy Marie Jones Long, 84, passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday, February 12, 2022, in Sagle, Idaho. She passed away at home surrounded by family and friends.

Patsy was born in Sandpoint on December 29, 1937, to Gerald and Geneva Jones, who after moving to the area from Nebraska, owned and operated a business in Westmond.

Patsy married her lifelong sweetheart, LaVon William Long, on June 10, 1956, enjoying 63 years of a wonderful marriage centered on the love of Jesus Christ. Their marriage was blessed with three children, LaWana (Doug Roberts), Roy (Annie), and Rick (Valorie), as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Patsy was passionate about anything “nature” and all activities that involve nature: bird and animal watching, hiking, huckleberry picking, camping, traveling and gardening. Her home was filled with the bounty from her garden.

Patsy was devoted to both her family and her church family, focusing on reaching them for Christ. She was heavily involved in her church while raising her children and engaged in organizing youth groups, vacation bible schools, and family campouts. Their home was filled with music, Bible studies, and joyful fellowship with friends and family from near and far. Her intimate love for Christ, and her care and concern for those around her, had a life-changing effect on many lives throughout the community. Everyone who met Patsy was immediately loved by her and considered a treasured “friend.” This woman of God was steadfast and resolute in her walk with God to the very end, leaving a legacy worth modeling one’s life after — “her price is far above rubies.” (Proverbs)

The family wishes to express their many thanks to all who provided food, prayers, phone calls, visits, and music, which Patsy enjoyed to the fullest. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Patsy’s devoted nurse and dear friend, Jeane Davis and Patsy’s loving niece and husband, Patty and Jerry Spray, for their loving care and support during her illness.

There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial for Patsy, which will be held Friday, March 4, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the North Summit Church in Sandpoint. Patsy will be buried in the Westmond Cemetery. While Patsy will be missed by many, we are thankful that she is again in the arms of her beloved husband, LaVon, who died in 2020.

Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint is handling the arrangements. Please visit Patsy’s online memorial at www.lakeviewfuneral.com and sign her guestbook.
