Randy Lee Thomas, 63, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022 in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Funeral Mass will be held at noon on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Sandpoint.
Randy was born on September 2, 1958, in Eugene, Oregon, to Marilyn Hurd. He spent time in Sitka, Alaska, as a child and later in Roseburg, Ore. He graduated high school in 1977 in Roseburg, where he excelled at football. After high school he served his country in the United States Coast Guard. He then attended the University of Oregon where he played football and earned a degree in business administration. He then earned a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Portland State University.
Randy married Lorelei Bredl on May 2, 1992, in Portland. They made their home in Camas, Washington, and Randy worked for Mitchell, Lewis and Staver and later for Lake Cable. In 2020, they moved to Sandpoint.
He enjoyed coaching his children in sports, snowmobiling, fly fishing, golfing, and pheasant hunting. He also loved his black lab, “Bentley.”
He is survived by his wife, Lorelei Thomas of Sandpoint; mother, Marilyn Hoffman of Aurora, Oregon; daughter, Sophia (John) Meshishnek of Deary, Idaho; son, Sam Thomas of Sandpoint; one grandson, Holden Meshishnek; brother, Aaron Hoffman of Amity, Oregon; and brother-in-law, Jay (Sue) Bredl of Vancouver, Washington.
