Virginia Gayle Inman, 82, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Virginia was born on August 29, 1939, in Mullan, Idaho, to Perry and Bessie Saunders. She moved to Sandpoint, where she graduated from Sandpoint High School, class of 1958.

In 1968 Virginia married Bill Inman, welcoming his sons Walter and Robert, along with her two children, Gordon and Juli. In 1970, their daughter Nila was born. Bill passed away in 1992.

There is a good chance that if you have eaten at any of the restaurants in Sandpoint owned by Sand Ida Services, Virginia cooked your meal. She worked in the kitchen at many of the local restaurants including Connie's and A&P for 45 years, between 1964 and 2005.

Virginia had many outdoor hobbies that she enjoyed dearly including camping, hunting, gardening, and commercial fishing on Lake Pend Oreille. Selling the Kokanee to The Smoke House in Sagle. Canning fruit that grew in the back yard. She was a voracious “rock hound,” traveling around searching for new rocks to bring home and add to her collection.

She is survived by her son, Gordon Murphy of Sandpoint; her daughter, Nila (Robert) Starritt of Newport, Washington; two step-sons, Walter (Darleen) Inman of Sandpoint, and Robbert (Judy) Inman of Tacoma, Washington; her sister, Ruthy (Richard) Bell of Kuna, Idaho; eight grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Juli Nelson; her husband, Bill; and five siblings.

Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint is handling the arrangements. Please visit Virginia’s online memorial at www.lakeviewfuneral.com and sign her guestbook.
