A Christian’s trademark
Trademarks are everywhere in our society.
Whether it is the classic symbol of Coca-Cola or the design on your favorite candy bar, distinct slogans or images guide you to your favorite snacks. In the automobile world, our eyes quickly notice the trademarks on vehicles as we recognize our preferred brand.
Just like food and automobiles, Christianity has a trademark. This trademark is not a design or a witty saying, but an attitude: thankfulness.
Heartfelt gratitude is best understood by Christians. This is because God’s people realize that the happy and difficult circumstances of life are controlled by God.
When Paul taught the Colossians how to live the Christian life, he explained that being thankful was important. In a few short verses, Paul mentions thankfulness three times (Colossians 3:15-17).
The work of Christ is so profound in the lives of Christians that nothing can stamp out thankfulness. In fact, the level of thankfulness in your heart is a good indicator of what your relationship with Jesus Christ is. The level of your thankfulness is a barometer which measures the health of your relationship with Christ.
People who do not have a saving relationship with Jesus Christ often display a lack of gratitude. Those who deny God’s existence have very little to be thankful for. If there is no God, who do you thank? A mark of the ungodly is their lack of gratitude (Romans 1:21).
Does the light of Christ radiate from your life through a thankful attitude?
