Thomas Robert 'Tom' Keough

Thomas Robert "Tom" Keough was born October 19, 1931, in Los Angeles, California, to the late Cecil (Zeke) and Eleanore Keough. He passed away Jan. 12, 2022.

He grew up in Pomona, California, where he was a two-sport star and Pomona High School Athlete of the Year 1948-49. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley, where he excelled in both football and baseball, playing football in the Rose Bowl and being selected as an All American in baseball in 1952.

He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Shields, on February 19, 1951, and received his master's degree from LA State University.

He was a lifelong educator - for 42 years, as a teacher and principal, and he coached many generations of athletes across several sports. He spent much of his career teaching and in administration in North Idaho In 2001, he was inducted to the UC Berkeley Athletic Hall of Fame.

He was the incredible father of Michael Bryan Keough, Karen Diane Mangrum, Janet Marie Keough, and Kelli Allen Keough; the grandfather of eight children and great-grandfather of eight.

He was an avid golfer, loved playing poker, and he was happiest playing cards at a California beach house with his three brothers, Marty Keough, Arty Keough and the late Joe Keough.

A private family celebration will be held later in the spring.
