The Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce and area businesses are excited to announce the 48th annual Winter Carnival.

The event, which runs Feb. 11-27, offers family fun and activities throughout Sandpoint and Schweitzer Mountain. The festivities will kick off with the Parade of Lights on Friday, Feb. 14, at 5:30 p.m. in downtown Sandpoint.

Registration for the Parade is due by Wednesday, February 9th.

The downtown Parade of Lights, sponsored by Ting, offers businesses, organizations and individuals a chance to show off their local pride, creativity, and playful side. The parade theme is “Weird Wonderful Winter.”

Greater Sandpoint Chamber executive director Kate McAlister said themed floats, groups, marching brigades, snowplows and tractors are invited to participate.

“If you can move it and decorate it with lights, we want it in the parade,” McAlister said.

Participation is free, but registration is required. There are three categories which will be awarded honors at the end of the parade: Best in Theme, Most Creative, and Best Overall.

The parade concludes at Jeff Jones Town Square, Third and Main, where winners will be announced and the parade after party will commence! There will be fire pits, a free hot chocolate bar courtesy of Hendricks Architecture, s’mores, music and entertainment courtesy of Pend d’Oreille Winery and much more!
