FBCS students donate to CCS

Forrest Bird Charter High School's Interact Club raised over $1,500 during an October fundraiser at the school for Community Cancer Services.

"It was refreshing to hear the club members very careful consideration of an organization to fundraise for," Cindy Marx, CCS executive director, said. "They wanted to know that the funds raised were going to those in need."

Marx said that the organization was able to reassure students that funds donated to CCS go to gas for clients to get to treatment, grocery cards to help maintain good nutrition while in treatment, and lodging costs if clients need to stay near a treatment facility.

"CCS is careful to maintain a small overhead of administrative costs and even those funds stay here in the local community," she added. "We appreciate that the spirit of volunteerism, community support and philanthropy is alive and well in this generation."
