Four-way battle at Baldfoot
There was a four-way tie during the Sandpoint disc golf doubles league on Friday through the first six holes at the Baldfoot Disc Golf Course.
The duos of Bobby Shaw/Riley Emmer, Christan Cook/Bill, Mike Brown/Jacob Hugues, and Ron Anderson/Jorn Reger had matching scores of 42, seven under par.
Ultimately, the final results weren’t available at press time, but it came down to Shaw and Emmer and Cook and Bill, who were tied at 42 through 16 holes, battling for the first place spot.
Anderson and Reger took the first lead of the round following a birdie on hole number one.
However, they followed it up with a bogey on hole two to put them back at par.
On holes three through six, Cook and Bill managed to pull away to take the lead.
The duo managed to birdie all four holes to put their score at -4.
From the shadows, Brown and Hughes would begin to inch their way back during the back nine.
The duo hit five birdies in a row to take the lead away from Cook and Bill.
Brown and Hugues were sitting at a score of -6 through 15 holes, which is where the other two teams came back.
On hole 15, each pair converted a birdie, with the exception of Hughes and Brown, causing the four-way tie.
All four teams matched each other with a birdie on hole 16 to remain dead locked at a score of -7.
Reger and Anderson fell out of the race for the top spot following a par on 17 and a bogey on the final hole.
Brown and Hugues finished out with back-to-back pars.
The other two duos were on the same card, the last to finish, with everything coming down to the final two holes.
For the first time in weeks, Michael Givens and Karl Kleinkauf weren’t fighting for the top spot.
Kleinkauf and Givens both finished tied for fourth place with a score of 49, six under par.
GIvens and his partner, Cami Kleinkauf, did do something pretty significant during the round;
Notching an ace on hole number 12.
The league will be back in action for the singles league on Tuesday, July 5.
