Pitching continues to improve for SHS softball
The Sandpoint High School softball team continued its summer scrimmage series at Sandpoint Middle School on Wednesday.
The Bulldogs went up against Priest River, winning the exhibition 28-4. This is the best Sandpoint has looked all summer according to coach Elizabeth Hawkins-Williams.
“It was exciting to watch this team maintain a high level of play,” she said. “They are starting to come together, which will continue to bring success.”
The pitching staff for the Bulldogs really showed out, only allowing four runs on three hits.
Senior Mayle Ducken pitched two innings and notched six strikeouts. Sophomores Ainsley Hull and Hayden Koberstein each pitched one inning, combining for five strikeouts.
The seventh graders had a solid day on the hill as well with Ryelle Short and Bailey Wilson both spending time on the bump.
The youngsters combined for four strikeouts and gave up just a single hit.
Baeley Sykes was the offensive standout for the Bulldogs finishing 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Ducken also shined at the plate, notching an inside the park grand slam home run.
