Givens returns atop of the leaderboard

Michael Givens returned to the top of the leaderboard on Friday during doubles action at the Baldfoot Disc Golf Course.

During the Sandpoint Disc Golf League’s doubles tournament, Givens teamed up with Eddie Lacey with the duo taking home the championship.

The two finished with a score of 44, 11 under par, one stroke ahead of second place finishers John Gaddess and Riley Emmer.

Lacey and Givens got off to a hot start notching a hat trick of birdies on holes 1-3. Hole four was where the birdie streak ended. They finished with a par putting their score at -3.

The duo would repeat their performance with another hat trick of birdies on holes 5-7 to put their score at -6.

After a par on hole eight, the two one upped their performance by hitting four birdies in a row on holes 9-12 to put their score at -10.

The pair hit their final birdies on holes 14 and 15.

There was a tie for the silver medal finishers. Emmer and Gaddes ended their round tied with Karl Kleinkauf and Christian Cook.

They both finished with a score of 45, 10 under par.

Emmer and Gaddes jumped out to the early lead, following back-to-back birdies to start. Kleinkauf and Cook only managed par.

On hole three, Emmer and Gaddes notched another birdie to put their score at -3, holding a three stroke lead over Cook and Kleinkauf.

Kleinkauf and Cook notched their first birdie on hole three to put them one stroke behind. Gaddess and Emmer extended their lead on holes four through six with a hat trick of birdies.

Following hole six, Gaddess and Emmer held a -5 to -1 lead over Kleinkauf and Cook.

Kleinkauf and Cook hit two back-to-back unanswered birdies to put themselves two strokes behind Gaddess and Emmer.

Gaddess and Emmer hit four birdies in a row to put their score at -9, but Kleinkauf and Cook wouldn’t go away that easily.

The duo hit an impressive seven birdies in a row to tie the score up at -10.
