Pair graduate National Youth Leadership Training class
The Sandpoint Kiwanis Club recently provided scholarships for Ryan Doko and Elliot Lowman, both members of Boy Scout Troop 111, to attend the National Youth Leadership Training class.
Doko is senior patrol leader of the troop, and Elliot Lowman is assistant senior patrol leader. Both were excited and enthused with what they learned upon completing this challenging course.
"It was quite an evening that culminated with a fine dinner, and recognition of various scouts accomplishments," the pair said. "It was amazing how quiet it was when we stepped outside to go home."
It is amazing, but not surprising, that every scout provided a scholarship to the NYLT, by the Sandpoint Kiwanis Club, has continued to move forward to earn their Eagle award, Dick Vail of Sandpoint Kiwanis, said.
Troop 111 has had 24 Eagle Scouts in the last 10 years, and it looks like two more on the way, Vail said.
"Interestingly, the last several Eagle Scout recipients have credited their leadership skills to the NYLT and its training values," Vail said.
Doko and Lowman were supported at their graduation party, by six Kiwanis members who made the trip to share in the Scouts outstanding and joyful moment.
The pair will give a presentation on their experiences at the Kiwanis luncheon on July 11.
