Gary Dennis Millard, 86
Gary Dennis Millard, 86, of Moscow, Idaho, and formerly of Sandpoint, Idaho, passed away July 16, 2022, at Avalon Care Center in Pullman, Washington.
Gary was born in Sandpoint to Guy and Alice (Green) Millard. He grew up in Dover, Idaho, and graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1954. Gary served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1961 including a tour to Germany.
Having started his career in high school at the Dover Mill, he returned to work there following his honorable discharge for the Army.
On March 31, 1962, Gary married Carol Forell in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. They made Sandpoint their home where they raised the family and Gary continued his career at the mill. He served in various capacities through the years and was a lift truck driver at the time the mill was closed. Gary went to work at the Bonner County Fairgrounds as a maintenance supervisor until retiring at the age of 65.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
His family was always of utmost importance in his life and spending time together was always high priority. He was greatly loved and will be missed by everyone he touched throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carol at their Moscow home; daughter, Melissa (Justin) Goodwin of Moscow; three sons, Galen (Karen) Millard living in England; Doug (Carol) Millard of Sandpoint and Corey Millard of Sandpoint; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Maida Buck; and brother, Val (Sue) Millard.
A family memorial gathering will be planned for the fall of 2022.
