Join the US Army Corps of Engineers and the Pend Oreille Rowing and Paddling Association (PORPA) for the grand opening of the new non-motorized boat launch at the Priest River Recreation Area (Mudhole).

The event will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 23th.

For years non-motorized boaters had little space to launch their craft at the Mudhole, and sometimes the motorized boat launch gets very crowded.

Now, PORPA and the US Army Corps of Engineers are building camaraderie and relationships between the motorized and non-motorized boating communities.

In 2021, Corps staff realigned a small section of the swim area to develop a non-motorized launch area with a shallow sandy bottom, close to a temporary loading/unloading area, and separated from the motorized boat launch.

This improvement will make launching SUPs, canoes, kayaks, rowing shells, and other human-powered watercraft safe and easy.

Come help the group celebrate by bringing non-motorized watercrafts out at 2 p.m. on Saturday

July 23 for the grand opening of the new facility.
