Group Camp trashed

Trouble transpired over the Memorial weekend at Priest Lake when nine carloads of young people bent on an alcoholic good time started pouring in to the Forest Service Group Camp just off the Kalispell Bay Road. In some cases, drugs came with them. They left mountains of trash behind. The high schools represented? West Valley, Central Valley, and Priest River, for sure. The local contingent is believed to have left early, so may not have contributed to the litter, said USFS spokesman, Butch Perry.

Stage turns over

The West Side stage driven by Art Dew turned over while making the trip to Nordman Friday. Art said the accident happened to avoid crashing head-on into a Washington car. The stage turned over on its side and was soon righted with not much damage done. The Spokane drivers have the habit of taking the entire road in rounding the curves, and it was with one of these “road hogs” that Art met up with.

Busy in the Settlement

Frank A. Naccarato of the Settlement four miles from town has finished his spring planting. He put in five acres of oats, two acres of spuds, two of vegetables. Besides this, he has about 40 acres of good meadow land, and was more fortunate than most ranchers in having to buy only one ton of hay this spring, while he sold 30 tons last fall. He wintered 37 head of cattle and three head of horses.
