William H. Kehrle

William H. Kehrle died on May 28, 2022, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

He was born in Paterson, New Jersey, to F. William and Elizabeth Kehrle. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Betty and Marion. He is survived by his wife, Nancee; daughters, Karen and Diane; and sister, Linda.

Bill was a devout Catholic and an active member as a lector at both Our Lady of Fatima in Highland Lakes, New Jersey, and Saint Joseph’s in Sandpoint.

He was a graduate of Paterson Eastside high school, Class of 1947.

He served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, attaining the the level of staff sergeant.

Upon his return from Korea, he entered into the New Jersey State Police force for the next 27 years, as a station commander of the Hainesville barracks as well as a safety educator, retiring in 1980.

He enjoyed a second career as an executive chauffeur for a major corporation. He fully retired in 1993.

Bill was a passionate downhill skier. He and his wife Nancee moved from Highland Lakes to Sandpoint in 1993, where he could enjoy the longer seasons on more challenging slopes.

He loved all sports and participated in many: softball, basketball, track and cross country, winning many medals on the high school track team. He played football and baseball for the U.S. Air Force.

A Catholic service will be held for him on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Sandpoint.
