The Sandpoint High School tennis team gave out its end-of-the year awards on Wednesday, June 8.

Freshmen Jacob Dawson and Aubrey Knowles earned “rookie of the year” honors.

Both Dawson and Knowles spent time shuffling around Sandpoint's lineup.

Knowles saw some action in mixed doubles and Dawson spent time as a singles and doubles player.

The number one singles award(s) went to Evan Wiley and Neva Reseska.

Reseska was a consistent part of the girls' lineup that went undefeated in 2022.

She earned a state bid in 2022 but ultimately didn’t place at the tournament.

She’s only a sophomore, however, so she’ll have two more years to get a spot at the podium.

Wiley also earned a spot at the end of the year tournament and has been constantly improving as a member of Sandpoint's tennis team.

Seniors Tyler Korn and Denali Terry earned the award for "Outstanding athlete".

Juniors Aden Heitz and Elly Pincher earned the "spirit award" which was followed by Patch Howard and Owen Larson earning the “leadership award”.

Seniors Caleb Bradshaw and Olivia Petruso earned an award for their work in the classroom, earning the "Scholastic Achievement award".

Mya Vorhies, Reseska, Pincher, Knowles, Maile Evans, Dawson, Owen Larson, and Ivan Steinbachs also earned a share of the award by notching a 3.75-4.0 grade point average.

The "most improved" award went to two more athletes who did a great job filling in on the Bulldogs' varsity lineup, sophomores Noah Spinney and Sydney Webb.

The "most consistent" award could've gone to almost anyone in Sandpoint's lineup, but it was awarded to junior Adrian Doty.

Doty spent time at number three singles and was a force in that spot for the Bulldogs.

Maise Brazill also earned an award for getting the most wins this season.

The junior only lost one match throughout the regular season splitting time between number one and number two singles.

Finally, to close out the night, the award for "team MVP" was awarded.

It was given out to the two seniors who made a deep run at the state tournament as a part of a doubles team.

Seniors Cayden Kindred and Petrsuo earned the MVP award for the Bulldogs.
