Upton named city's arts and historic preservation officer
Heather Upton has accepted a new position as the city of Sandpoint’s arts and historic preservation officer. In her new role, she will be working closely with the arts, culture, and history community to implement the city’s Arts, Culture and Historic Preservation Plan.
Though Upton will be vacating her position of executive director of the Bonner County Historical Society & Museum to pursue this new opportunity, she said her love for local history and the museum continue.
“My love for the museum, our local history and this community is stronger than ever,” she said. “I will continue to support the vision and mission of the museum, while expanding on the great work they have done over the last 50 years.”
As the museum curator for the past seven years and executive director since early 2020, Upton said her journey with the museum has been a “labor of love” and wants “to make this a wonderful opportunity for us all. Let’s build on what we have achieved!”
The museum board and staff look forward to working closely with Upton in her new role on community projects, particularly as they know the many talents, skills and passion that she brings to her work.
BCHS will be posting the executive director position on Indeed. If interested in the position, you may review the qualifications at indeed.com; refer any questions to board president Ruth Wimberly at Ruth@WimberlyHR.com.
