Pine Street Woods to host free STEM event
SANDPOINT – The East Bonner County Library District's STEM trailer is coming to Pine Street Woods on Thursday, June 30.
From 3-5 p.m. kids can experience hands-on nature discovery using binoculars, microscopes, and other science, technology, engineering, and math equipment that is stocked in the mobile educational center.
The STEM Trailer will be parked in the upper parking lot at Pine Street Woods near the Outdoor Recreation Center. Brenden Bobby, the library’s Exploration Coordinator for Experiential and STEM Learning, will be there to welcome kids and lead them in observing and engaging with the natural world. Participation is free and preregistration is not required. A library card is required to check out binoculars.
“We will have plenty of things for kids to do, from learning to look through binoculars to collecting things to look at under a microscope. The STEM Trailer is full of stuff designed for hands-on learning,” Bobby said.
Families can come up for the day to enjoy the STEM Trailer, explore the trails, and bring a picnic lunch.
“This is a great chance for families who haven’t been up to Pine Street Woods yet to check it out,” encouraged Marcy Timblin, KLT Communications Director.
Pine Street Woods is located at 111915 W. Pine St. Directions and a wayfinding video are posted at kaniksu.org/play. For more information about the library’s STEM Trailer or this event at Pine Street Woods, contact Brenden Bobby at (208)263-6930 or brenden@ebonnerlibrary.org.
