Timbers North 05 finishes 1-2 at Far West Regionals

The Timbers North 05 boys’ team competed at the Far West Regionals soccer tournament from June 20-23.

The area’s finest young soccer players competed against the best teams from the western states during the three day tournament.

The Timbers wrapped up the three-day playing field 1-2 in pool play.

The Timbers opened up the Far West Regional soccer tournament against Alaska.

The Last Frontier State would be the only win for the Timbers throughout the tournament.

They beat Alaska 2-1 in the opening round and would advance to play Utah in game two.

Its game against Utah was another close one. It was only decided by two goals.

However, Utah ended up taking the victory over the Timbers, by a score of 2-4.

This loss would send the Timbers to the losers bracket, meaning they’d face a win or go home scenario.

They’d next face-off against Colorado.

Colorado proved to be a force; it downed the Timbers 3-1 to eliminate them from the Far West Regionals soccer tournament.

Sandpoint High School was represented well throughout the Timbers’ North 05 soccer team with three varsity players competing.

Jett Longanecker, Evan Dickinson, and Stirling Roget all saw the field for the Timbers during the season and during the tournament.

The trio along with the entire Timbers North 05 team managed to get to this point following an excellent performance at the Idaho State Cup over Memorial Day Weekend.

The Timbers North 05 boys’ team made it all the way to the championship round of the Idaho State Cup against the Boise Timbers.

The finals matchup between the two teams from the Gem State truly came down to the wire and needed extra time for it to be finished.

The Timbers North 05 boys’ team ended up winning the game and hoisting the trophy following penalty kicks.

After its 1-2 record at the Far West Regionals soccer tournament, the Timbers season will officially come to an end.

The team was competing for a chance to go to the national tournament.

This year, the national tournament will be held in Orlando, Florida.
