K9 Keg Pull returns to plenty of a-paws
For every dog that charged down the course, another two or more stopped dead in their tracks before turning and giving their human a look that spelled trouble.
Sunday, dogs of all shapes, sizes and enthusiasm turned out as Sandpoint’s Winter Carnival K9 Keg Pull made its return after a two-year hiatus. The pups and their people gathered on Cedar Street to try their hand — or paw — at pulling empty keg barrels down a snowy street course.
Fans and spectators cheered as the pups rallied to the finish line. The event, hosted by Eichardt’s and sponsored by EzyDog and Selkirk Press, benefits Better Together Animal Alliance. This year was record-breaking, raising over $2,000 to benefit animals throughout the area, BTAA officials said.
“This is such a fun way to bring awareness to the services we provide for the community and bring animal lovers together for a good time,” Paige McGowan, BTAA development director, said. “We are so grateful for the support of our community and of the sponsors of this event. Thank you to everyone who pulled together to make the keg pull happen this year.”
