MOSCOW — The Sandpoint Sharks competed in the Junior Olympics event in Moscow. Eight swimmers qualified for the event and represented Sandpoint.

The Bulldogs walked away with the team Spirit Award and had several swimmers reach personal best times.

“That award speaks volumes about our team,” Meggie Foust said. “There were a lot of teams that were much larger than us. Our team is small but mighty.”

McCoy Jensen beat his personal best time in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:12.60.

Lou Foust placed second in the 500 free with a time of 6:14.57; he dropped six seconds off of his personal best time.

Myelle Jensen had one of her best meets to date, setting her new personal best time in the 50 breaststroke.

Jensen swam a 34.26, and not only did she break her own record, she broke the pool record that was set back in 2011.

Emily Ballard also notched a personal best time in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:18.44.

Ryleigh Bamer finished first in the 50 butterfly with a time of 27.48.

Other Sharks placers included Caleb Nortling, who had a fifth place finish in the 200 free with a time of 1:48.65.

Ava De Leeuw finished seventh in the mile with a time of 20;13.85, and Mia Driggs finished eighth in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 36.23.
