SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT REMODELED
Remodeling of the sheriff’s department has been completed at the Bonner county courthouse. The former caretaker’s apartment at the south end of the first floor now houses the driver’s license bureau formerly located on the second floor. Those obtaining driver’s licenses no longer need to enter the main building, but can park at the south end of the building and enter through the new entrance facing First Ave.

CHESS TEAM ROUGH ON PR
In its first-ever interscholastic chess competition, a four man team representing the Sandpoint High School Chess Club downed Priest River 3-1. The winning quartet consisted of Dan Young, Gary Parker, Garth Olmstead and Paul Csorosz. Team alternate is Doug Madsen. Dave Parker, SHS math and physics instructor, has been the club adviser for five years.

GORDONS OBSERVE SILVER ANNIVERSARY
The silver wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Gordon will be honored with a reception from 7 to 9 o’clock Saturday in the I.W.A. hall. Hosting the affair will be their children, Denise, Nels and Cynthia Gordon. All relatives and friends are invited.

State Senator Andrew Christenson was appointed postmaster at Laclede, to take over his duties with the confirmation by the senate of his appointment.

JAEGER IN WHOLESALE FIELD
With a 12,000-gallon capacity gasoline storage tank at Alder street on the west side of the S.I. tracks (along Fifth ave.), the City garage of Sandpoint, W.E. Jaeger, proprietor, has entered the wholesale field as a gasoline distributor, handling the Pure Oil company’s product, together with Monogram oils and greases. The large tank enables Mr. Jaeger to handle gasoline in carload lots, there being 8000 gallons to a tank car. Mr. Jaeger expects to handle a minimum of three carloads of gasoline a month during the auto season.

CITY HAS PIPE ORGAN FACTORY
Sandpoint possesses a rather unusual industry for a city of less than many thousands of inhabitants. A pipe organ manufactory is being operated by G.W. Bates and his son, Arthur Bates, at their music and piano store on Main street, near Sixth avenue. Mr. Bates began construction on an instrument last winter which will be worth $1500 to $2000 when completed.

GRAVEL FOR NEW SCHOOL
The Merchants Delivery has the contract to furnish 600 yards of gravel for the new school building, to be delivered immediately. It is being secured during the low water period, barged from the shores of the lake.
