Barnett places third in high jump at MOC

POST FALLS — The Clark Fork and Priest River track teams competed at the District I Meet of Champions at Post Falls High School on Thursday.

The boys on the Spartans track team finished in seventh, whereas the girls finished in ninth.

Shane Gambler notched a second place finish in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 41.49.

Gambler also competed in the 4x400 meter relay event for the Spartans..

Gambler, Erik Deem, Travis Matthews, and Jimmie Isenberger finished second with a time of 3:39.04.

Deem competed in the pole vault event and finished in second place.

Matyus McLain continued his steady season by finishing fourth in both the shot put and discus events.

Junior Elisheva Davis took third in the long jump by leaping 14 feet.

The girls sprint medley team also finished third with a time of 2:04.55.

Sophomore Allyson Barton placed ninth and sixth in the shot put and discus events, respectively.

For the Wampus Cats, Sam Barnett finished ninth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:12.47. He also added a third place finish in the high jump.

Hank Barnett tied with Sam in the high jump, both clearing five feet and four inches.

For the girls, Savannah Weymouth finished fifth in the pole vault with a personal best mark of eight feet and six inches.

Next up for Priest River is day one of the District 1 3A championships at Timberlake High School on Wednesday, May 11.

Clark Fork will be at the District 1 and 2 1A/2A championships at Lapwai High School on Friday, May 13.
