Cole Reuter returns to state

MULLAN — Clark Fork senior Cole Reuter earned medalist honors at the Class 2A district 1 tournament with a score of 67 on Monday at the Pinehurst golf course in Mullan.

Reuter’s first place finish earned him a spot at the Class 2A Idaho state golf tournament at the Falcon Crest Golf Club in Kuna on Monday, May 16.

This will be the seniors third trip to the state tournament.

“It’s an amazing accomplishment,” Clark Fork golf coach Brian Arthun said. “I’ve been a coach here nine years and this is the first time I’ve had a boy go to state every year.”

Reuter led the boys team, which is mostly made up of sophomores and first year golfers.

His performance along with the constant improvement from the young team, earned the Wampus Cats a fourth place finish.

“I was really proud of that accomplishment,” Arthun said. “They have a really bright future ahead of them.”

Lily Reuter finished fourth overall as an individual with a score of 113.

The sophomore was just one place shy of making an appearance at the state tournament.

"She didn't play golf last year," Arthun said. "In her first year of competitive golf she went out and got fourth. Hopefully that will motivate her for her junior and senior year."
