HOPE – It’s a chance to have fun — and raise some money for Hope Elementary.

Partners in Education is an organization dedicated to enriching the experience of Hope Elementary students and has organized the 11th annual Spring Fling fundraiser. An event that brings the community together to raise funds for the local elementary school.

The funds will go toward a school savings account and funnel back into the Book Trust, a program that gives students in kindergarten through third grade a free book every month.

This year's event will feature a car wash, bike rodeo, and a yard sale that will also have plants and baked goods that can be enjoyed after a barbecue lunch at the event.

While the staff of Hope Elementary will be running the event, the students do their part as well with grades K-4 donating yard sale items and baked goods and grades 5-6 volunteering to assist staff with sales and the car wash.

Michelle Adams, PiE president and Hope Elementary paraprofessional, said the event was a success last year attributing most of the success to good weather and the community. She is hoping to see the same this year.

“People were really excited to come out and support the school,” Adams said.

While the event brings needed funds to the school and its programs, Adams said the biggest benefit comes from the community involvement, giving the students a chance to see how supported they are.

Community members can further show support by donating plant starters, and yard sale items which can be dropped off, at Hope Elementary by May 20. Middle and high school students of Lake Pend Oreille School District are also encouraged to get involved by volunteering.
