Mary Ellen Cayson, 62

Mary Ellen Cayson, 62, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on June 17, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Sandpoint, Idaho, with Fr. Rob Cook celebrating followed by a reception.

Mary was born on June 10, 1959, in Burbank, California, to Desmond and Margaret McGreevy. She grew up and attended schools in Glendale, graduating from Hoover High School in 1977.

Mary married Michael Cayson on November 8, 1980, in Glendale. They moved to Canyon Country (now Santa Clarita) in 1981 and started a family. In 2011 they moved to Sandpoint, where Mary worked as a paraprofessional at Washington Elementary School.

Mary loved her family, was a great mom and gramma, enjoyed traveling, going to the theater and spoiling her dogs. She always looked forward to being with her Washington Elementary family and the children she helped learning to read.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Cayson of Sandpoint; four sons, Chris Cayson of Sandpoint, Patrick (Melissa) Cayson of Ventura, Conner (Amanda) Cayson of Seattle and Jackson Cayson of Sandpoint; two daughters, Cassandra Cayson of Sandpoint, and Molly (Stephen) Lee of Rathdrum; four grandchildren, Coleton, Michael, Ashlyn, and Griffin; one sister Patricia (James) Heaton of Santa Clarita; one brother Jerry McGreevy of Escondido; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Mike McGreevy.
