KUNA — Cole Reuter wrapped up his golfing career at Clark Fork High School with a ninth-place finish at the Class 2A Idaho State golf tournament at the Falcon Crest Golf Club on Tuesday.

“What an amazing performance,” Clark Fork golf coach Brian Arthun said. “What he has done for Clark Fork Golf has been remarkable. It won’t ever be done again.”

Reuter finished the tournament with a score of 158, which was only nine strokes behind medalist Park Wallace from Cole Valley Christian.

“It’s rare you have a talent like (Cole),” Arthun said. “He didn’t allow anything to rattle him. He got better and better as the years went on and became a leader.”

Reuter birdied his final hole as a member of the Wampus Cats golf team.

“Hole 18 was the toughest on the course,” Arthun said. “It’s surrounded by water with a narrow fairway.”

Before Reuter lined up to take the shot, he looked over at his grandpa and told him he was going for it all.

“It was about a 200 yard shot and he nailed it,” Arthun said. “He had the biggest smile on his face after the shot. That was the perfect way to end his golfing career.”
