Sandpoint lacrosse team ends season on high note
Sandpoint boys lacrosse head coach Dakota Biaese notched his first winning season as head coach for the team after winning their final game of the season last week.
The team's season came to a close on Wednesday, May 11 at Memorial Field with a league matchup against Immaculate Conception from Post Falls.
The team ended their season on a high note with a five-goal victory over Immaculate Conception, winning by a final score of 15-10 in its season finale.
Senior Nic LaMana has traditionally played the defender position all season, but against Immaculate Conception, he stepped out of his comfort zone.
He played middie and scored his first goal of the season.
This was a fitting way for the senior to go out in his final game as a member of the lacrosse team.
LaMana graduates from Sandpoint High School next month and will continue his lacrosse career at the next level.
He has already committed to playing lacrosse for the University of Idaho next year.
LaMana wasn’t the only player who stepped away from their traditional post. Sophomore Ryan Doko also stepped out of his comfort zone against Immaculate Conception.
The sophomore has held down goalie responsibilities for the team the previous two years.
In the season finale, however, just like LaMana, he played as a middie.
He managed to get three shots on goal, along with one goal made.
This was the sophomore’s first goal of the season.
Forest Ambridge notched three goals throughout the contest which led the Sandpoint team.
Sawyer Treadaway led in assists while also contributing to the scoreboard.
Other scorers for the Sandpoint boys lacrosse team included Levi Balison, Lucca Grillo, Blayne Kanning, Gage McElroy, Owen Page, Treadaway, Austin Waud and Owen Wimmer.
The Sandpoint team finished their season one game above .500, racking up four wins compared to only three losses.
