Man arrested on charges for second-degree assault and unlawful imprisonment
SANDPOINT — A Spokane man is in custody in Sandpoint on a felony warrant for second-degree assault and unlawful imprisonment.
The man, whose name was not immediately released due to the active investigation, was taken into custody at Hickory Street Park in northern Sandpoint Friday evening.
Sandpoint Police were notified about 4:30 p.m. by the Spokane Police that a wanted felon out of Spokane, Washington, was possibly in Sandpoint. The man was traveling with his three children and had threatened to shoot them, Sandpoint City Administrator Jennifer Stapleton said.
Officers immediately staged to search for the man and learned from Spokane detectives that they had applied for an emergency felony warrant for second degree assault and unlawful imprisonment.
The suspect was ultimately located at Hickory Park and was taken into custody without incident by Sandpoint Police.
The children are safe and are being reunited with family in Spokane, Stapleton said.
