Annual Turkey Trot run announced
Turkey Trot is back and ready to hit the track running — or walking.
Held Thanksgiving morning at 9 a.m., the event hopes to raise at least 1,000 pounds of food for the Bonner Community Food Bank.
Now in its 15h year, the event is sponsored by Litehouse YMCA and Sandpoint Parks and Recreation with the goal of helping those in need in the community.
While the Thanksgiving Day event was virtual in 2020, it returned as an in-person event in 2021.
This low key, untimed event features a 5K, 10K or whatever distance runners or walkers set as their goal. All ages and strollers are welcome. Organizers asked participants to leave bikes and dogs at home.
Feel free to dress up, as best hat wins a pie courtesy of the Pie Hut.
This fun run is free with your nonperishable donation to the Bonner Community Food Bank. The event will start at the Travers Park lot (1202 W. Pine St.) at 9 a.m. Please come early to sign a waiver (minors need a parent or guardian signature) and to drop off food donations. The event collects close to 1,000 pounds of food each year.
