Coats 4 Kids drive kicks off

SANDPOINT – It’s getting cold out there.

This is why local organizers have joined forces with a Spokane TV station to help those in need stay warm through their annual coat drive.

The coat drive launched Saturday, Oct. 1, and continues through Oct. 31. The goal is to collect as many coats and winter clothing to be given to kids and adults in need and, to make that happen, the annual Coats 4 Kids event asks the community to come together to help one another.

“Let's work together to keep our kids and adults warm this winter,” said officials of Tomlinson Sotheby's International Realty.

With multiple drop-off locations, there are also multiple ways to donate. Gently used or brand new winter attire will be accepted from hats and gloves to coats and snow pants, as well as tax-deductible cash and check donations.

Donated winter clothes will be distributed to anyone in need during the month of November at two locations in Sandpoint.

Checks can be made out to KXLY Community Partners Foundation and either mailed or dropped off at Tomlinson Sotheby's International Realty, 200 Main St., Sandpoint where other donations can be dropped off.

Other donation locations include Safeway, 702 N. Fifth Ave., Sandpoint; Tomlinson Sotheby's International Realty, 200 Main St.; And Selkirk Association of Realtors, 325 Marion, Sandpoint.

Distribution locations include: Bonner Community Food Bank,1707 Culvers Drive, Sandpoint, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m.; and Wednesday and Friday, 9 a.m.-noon; and the Priest River food bank, 175 S. McKinley, Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
