Virtual class looks at insects’ impact

| October 6, 2022 1:00 AM

The WSU Master Gardeners are offering a Zoom class on “The Impact of Insects” on Thursday, Oct. 13.

The class will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The class will be taught by forest entomologist, Melissa Fischer, who is an expert in the scientific study of insects. In this class Fischer will provide valuable information on insect identification, the specific order of insects, invasive species, and pests in your forestry. Her focus is on insects that are in area trees. Insects are known to be the little things that run the world. The class fee is $5, ($3 for MGs), and can be paid by check or money order, or through PayPal.

Anyone with a computer or smart phone and Internet access will be able to attend this Zoom class by calling or emailing program coordinator, Beverly Sarles, to register. Those that are registered will receive an email, a day before the class, with the Zoom link and instructions on how to access the presentation. The Zoom class will be interactive so participants will be able to make comments and ask questions. Even if participants do not have a camera and microphone on their computers, they can view the class and ask questions by typing them into a chat box. In order to register for the class, so you can receive the Zoom link and know how to submit the class fee, please contact Beverly Sarles, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., at 509-447-2401 or email anytime at: beverly.sarles@wsu.edu.
