SANDPOINT — “Wait, another one?” was the question the Bulldogs had everyone asking at their final conference game Friday night. The answer almost always was yes.

The Sandpoint Bulldogs celebrated Senior Night by beating the Moscow Bears 67-0. The officials let the clock run after halftime and junior varsity players were on the field much of the second half.

Senior quarterback Parker Petit snuck the first touchdown in for the the Bulldogs (2-0 Inland Empire League, 4-3 overall), who open state tournament play at home on Oct 28. Senior wide receiver Arie Vandenberg scored again just seven minutes in and brought the score to 13-0. The Bulldogs rounded out the first quarter 20-0 when junior running back Kody Brewster caught a pass and ran it in.

The second quarter was greasy, with the most action of the entire game. In the first minute, junior defensive back Joe Bohanek intercepted a pass and ran it back to the Moscow 10-yard line. Junior wide receiver Hunter Garcia found paydirt minutes later. Senior wide receiver Koda Hartley caught a short pass on the left end, promptly scoring another one.

Bohanek followed that up with a punt return before running for a 49 yards touchdown. Two minutes later, Hunter got another touchdown.

Ten minutes into the second quarter, Brewster scored again.

Senior linebacker Owen Wimmer got an interception. This just before junior wide receiver Max Frank ran it in for yet another one. This was the last touchdown of the game and is when the officials started letting the clock run. The dogs closed out the first half with a 61-0 lead.

The third quarter saw some mercy for Moscow, with junior varsity getting a lot of practice time. Pertek did get a field goal in this quarter, and the last. The jayvee team came close to scoring another one, but they could not quite punch through.

The final score: 67-0.

Head coach Ryan Knowles did not have much to say about the game.

“All three phases were clickin’ pretty good,” Knowles said. When asked for criticism, he did not give any. “It’s hard to after a game like that,” he said.

The Bulldogs are idle this coming week (final week of regular season), and then play at home in two weeks for first round of state playoffs.
