MSIP returning with 'Shakespeare (Abridged)'

| October 29, 2022 1:00 AM

Montana Shakespeare in the Parks is coming to town as the cast and crew brings a long-awaited winter production of “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) - Revised” to the Panida stage

The production will take place Nov. 10, at 7:30 p.m. Nearby performances will take place Nov. 9, at 7:30 p.m. at the Rex Theater in Thompson Falls, Mont.; Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. at the Libby Memorial Events Center in Libby, Mont.; and Nov. 12, at 6 p.m. at Bias Brewing in Kalispell, Mont.

In its 50th anniversary season, Montana Shakespeare in the Parks had to postpone last winter’s tour of the same production, MSIP staff and cast said they are excited to finally be bringing this energy-packed, keep-you-on-your-toes comedy to the stage.

“Though we were all disappointed to have to postpone last year’s winter tour, what we missed the most was all of you,” said Kevin Asselin, executive artistic director. “Shakespeare has always been about the community for us, and that still holds true in our 50th season. This winter’s production is beyond phenomenal, but what will make it special is getting to share it with our friends, family, and community. We invite everyone to come out for our final tour of the 2022 season.”

From plays to sonnets, “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) - Revised” is a high- octane performance that shares Shakespeare's best. Audiences will delight in this fast-firing comedy that attempts to prove that three actors can do the impossible: Act through Shakespeare's entire canon — 37 plays — in 90 minutes. The show is free to attend.

Montana Shakespeare in the Parks is an outreach program of Montana State University’s College of Arts and Architecture. It was founded on the firm belief that Shakespeare belongs to everyone. The accomplished company of performers and staff work tirelessly to connect people, communities, and the arts, as they spread messages of unity and understanding.

Free and open to the public, MSIP's winter tour will span a total of 29 communities throughout Montana and Wyoming in 34 days, giving Shakespeare fans a chance to take in a performance nearly every night of the week.
