VIDEO: Red Flag Warning issued for Inland Northwest

A windy Wednesday will cause a number of weather concerns today. Most importantly, Red Flag Warnings are in effect until 10pm tonight as fire danger hit high and critical levels due to wind speeds up to 35mph across the area.

The winds will cause all the active fires in the northwest to become more active and very likely, produce more smoke resulting in widespread hazy and smoky skies. Drops in air quality are possible for locations downwind from these fires.

That mean those in central Idaho, near Nez perce, are seeing unhealthy air quality this morning, but will improve today. Meanwhile, fires in southern British Columbia will cause smoke over northern Washington this afternoon. As the winds turn northwesterly, locations close to Spokane could see smoky skies and air quality drops late this evening and overnight.

Temperatures will be close to 90 degrees Wednesday, but likely stay in the upper 80s because of some haze in the atmosphere. A cold front moves through the area tonight and will push temperatures into the upper 70s for highs Thursday and Friday.

Temperatures will climb back into the mid 80s for the weekend. Right now it looks like fire danger will ebb a little, but it's important to be safe as we head through the end of the dry stretch of summer.
