Vote for the issues not the parties

| September 11, 2022 1:00 AM

What do you believe in? Have you been silent after each mass murder by yet another gun fanatic, mislead by political right-wing rhetoric? Do you speak up for people of color? Do you support the freedom of others to practice their religion? Do you support a free press? Does truth matter to you?

We are in a place now that we have never been. Medical personnel being threatened during a pandemic crisis, while going days without a break. People harassed for protecting themselves and their loved ones for wearing a mask in public, while bodies stack up behind hospitals. Unprecedented protests at school board meetings and threats of violence toward teachers. Book banning, in the year 2022, and protests at libraries and threats towards librarians. Librarians!

Law enforcement violently attacked during the January 6th terrorist attack on the Capital. Republicans attempt at a 3rd world coup while saying the attack that left hundreds of men and women in blue injured, a peaceful protest. While Trump steals TOP SECRET Documents and lies about it, a true threat considering his bromance with Putin, Kim Jung-Un, and other Dictators. Instead of condemning violence and standing up for democracy and our nation the GOP stand with the BIG LIE and the big liar. While the hate-filled salivate at the possibility of autocracy and the demise of our actual freedoms.

It’s time to stop voting for the R or D, and pay attention to what candidates are saying. Do their values align with yours? Do you prefer to allow impregnated children to die in childbirth because you’ve bought into the vile belief that females have no right to autonomy over their bodies? Think that forcing women to give birth no matter the cost to her health, or the cost to her family and taxpayers is going to save a fetus and bring you to Jesus?

Think voting doesn’t matter? Think all politicians are the same? Well, you are wrong. If the millions of non-voters took a few minutes to register and a little time to look into candidates and not YouTube or other influencers for profit, we actually could have nice things. Your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and the entire planet's next generation are depending on you to get your act together.
