We must protect our youth, freedom
On Tuesday, Aug. 23, a hard-working group joined parents and teachers at the Priest River Junior High Auditorium. Topic of discussion: a revisit to a previous decision to adopt a new curriculum.
It was a curriculum that had been approved by a school board previously, However, it was a flawed decision as the board had not received all the information. So a vote to approve, rescind or modify the previous decision was put on the agenda.
Teachers had already been preparing for the fast approaching new school year with the new curriculum. The McGraw Hill representative flew up from Boise with a panel of speakers on a conference call to assure the WBCSD they had made a good decision for their kids.
This was a David-and-Goliath battle.
Because the few diligent conservative researchers labored hard and brought the facts about the true corporate background and their financial benefits *(1), provided the McGraw self-proclaimed social and emotional learning elements of the curriculum and also what using ARPA ESSER funds would obligate the school district to; a motion to rescind was requested and seconded. The vote was held and a near catastrophe for the WBCSD kids was averted and the flawed curriculum was rejected.
Freedom does not protect us, we must protect freedom.” *(2)
Well done, good and faithful, to freedom's continuation for our kids.
