Starting the year with accomplishment
SANDPOINT – Several students at Sandpoint High School have started the new school year in a positive way - receiving national honors.
The new school year started nearly two weeks ago and already 14 SHS juniors have set themselves up for success by being recognized by the College Board National Recognition Program.
The program is broken into four qualifying categories of recognition and creates an opportunity for underrepresented students to earn academic honors and connect with universities. In addition to needing to meet the requirements of categories students also have to meet qualifications based on test scores, such as Advanced Placement or PSAT. Making these awards not easy to acquire. The recipients at SHS qualified to apply and win under the “Rural and Small Town” category
While these awards are not scholarships, they can lead to scholarship opportunities and weight on college entrance decisions. This accolade also allows recipients to connect with colleges, scholarship opportunities, financial aid updates, and more through an opt-in program called “Student Search Service”.
Proud of their students, Lake Pend Oreille School District communication liaison Kristin Hawkins said SHS is excited to make the announcement that the recipients are:
