Barbara Ann Woolsey, 86

Barbara Ann Woolsey, 86, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022, in Billings, Mont.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 26, 2022, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint, Idaho. She will be laid to rest with her husband, William Woolsey, at the Pack River Cemetery.

Barbara was born March 23, 1935, in Woodward, Iowa. After her birth, her parents, Harry J. Shoemaker and Margaret F. (Groves) Shoemaker, moved to Sandpoint, Margaret’s hometown. Barbara grew up here and graduated from Sandpoint High School. She married William R. Woolsey on Oct. 29, 1954. They lived in Sandpoint and raised three children. They moved to Montana in 1980. Bill passed away in 2016. They were married 61 years.

Her family and friends will remember her as a great Mom, a loving aunt, a terrific cook, an avid gardener and a good friend. She utilized the carpentry skills she learned from her Dad and the cooking and sewing skills she learned from her Mom in her many hobbies. She loved to garden, to cook, to sew and crafting. In her 50s and 60s, she raised some sheep on their hobby farm in Billings. She loved her dogs and the little lambs and calves that needed special care.

Barbara was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Billings. She loved her church family and appreciated their support when her health began to fail.

She is lovingly remembered by her son, Bob; daughter, Linda; her grandson, J.J. Geenen and his family; her brother-in-law, Randy Prohl, sister-in-law Alice (Woolsey) Coldsnow and her husband, Bill Coldsnow, and sister-in-law Virginia (Davis) Groves, and their families; and her Stoeckman and Wisdom cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, daughter Cheryl Geenen, her son-in-law, Mike Geenen, her sister, Sue Prohl and her brother, Jim Groves.
