April 6, 1973 – FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY
A birthday party was held March 30 in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kennedy honoring their one-year-old son, Doug. Guests were Doug’s grandmother, Mrs. Lillian Kennedy; his aunts, Mrs. Florence Dunn and Mrs. Helen Dunn; Mrs. Jan Kice and children, Neil and Anna; Mrs. Marilynn Finney and son, John; and Mrs. Sandy Roberts and son, Keith.

ESTHER LINES AWARDED
A Forest Service certificate of merit and a $300 cash award were presented to Mrs. Esther Lines by Roy Wise Wednesday at the Kaniksu National Forest offices. Mrs. Lines is a receptionist and secretary to the engineering department. Wise said, “This is a quality of performance award. Mrs. Lines always makes sure the job gets done even if she has to come back and work evenings.” Mrs. Lines has nearly 20 years of service to the forest service.

FARRAR IS ALPINE MOTORS PARTS MGR
Sandpoint native Don Farrar has returned to make his home here. Farrar, who spent 10 years in the GM Parts Division, Denver, is employed by Alpine Motor Co. as parts department manager. He, wife Elaine and three children, returned here two weeks ago. The children include two junior high sons and a first grade daughter. Farrar is recalled by many here as a fine SHS athlete, playing varsity basketball and football in 1952-53-54. An ardent hunter and fisherman, Farrar said he is glad to be home.

The Grouse Creek Sunday school held a picnic Easter Sunday. Rev. and Mrs. George Ham of Sandpoint were out for the picnic.
This warm weather brought a number of picnickers from town out to the country.
Mr. and Mrs., Dan Balison of Sandpoint spent Easter Sunday with Mr. Balison’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. [Elwood] Balison.

ST. AGNES GUILD ELECTS
St. Agnes Guild met at the home of Mrs. William Steward with Mrs. Everett Tate as assisting hostess. Officers were elected as follows: Mrs. Beecher Hitchcock, president; Mrs. Tom Jones, first vice president; Mrs. Hervy Coulson, second vice president; Mrs. Peter Miller, treasurer; and Mrs. Edwin Crockett, secretary. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Elmer Chamberlain, 1003 N. Fifth Ave., with Mrs. Carrie Jewett as co-hostess.

FARMIN MUSICIANS AT KIWANIS MEETING
Entertaining at Monday’s Kiwanis club meeting was a group of junior musicians from the Farmin school under the direction of Walter Snodgrass, band director in the Sandpoint schools. They included a violin group of Kenneth Mott, LeRoy Stangland, Robert Droogs and Conrad Gissel, and a quartet of clarinets consisting of Gerry Kimzey, Mary Rae Bergeron, Lee Hall and Donna Selle.
