WBCSD students deserve your support

| April 18, 2023 1:00 AM

I am a student attending PRJH (Priest River Junior High). I enjoy being a part of this school community.

I have made some great friends and I have had some amazing teachers. I know that there are many other students here who like going to the schools in this district. I also partake in cross country and track & field. It would be very unfortunate if we didn’t pass the levy this year. So many awesome staff members who work for this district would have to leave, and kids wouldn’t be able to participate in sports or extracurricular activities. I have been able to participate in 9 Missoula Children’s theaters up at the lake, and free orchestra classes put on by the junior high/high school band teacher. Nobody would be able to get to experience things like this if we don’t pass the levy. Passing the levy would greatly benefit the entire school district and we would not survive successfully without one. Passing this levy is very, very important for the well-being of the West Bonner County community.

When I graduate high school, I intend to go to Gonzaga University. I am considering becoming a lawyer, and I think I could be very good at it. I plan to get a great job and help a lot of people. I have so many dreams that I want to accomplish, just like so many other kids my age, including kids in this school district. Many of those dreams require finishing school, and I want to continue to go to school here, in Priest River. I want to be able to enjoy the last of my eighth grade year and four years of high school here, which would only happen if we pass this levy.

People often mention low test scores for the reason they don’t want more funding, but I’m one of the students that do extremely well on all of my ISATs, and I get very good grades. Test scores aren’t everything, though. I know many kids who might not do too well on their tests, but they still have dreams and goals and want to succeed. They excel at all sorts of things that aren’t necessarily part of a standardized test. All of the students in the WBCSD deserve your support. I hope you consider my words, and vote YES on May 16.
