CUSTOMER NOTICE 4/18/2023 The Algoma Water System has filed an application with the Idaho Public Utilities Commission (IPUC) requesting approval of a rate increase to be effective June 1, 2023. The Company is proposing to increase overall revenue by $9798.00. (Note: The overall revenue increase = total amount collected under current rates minus total amount collected under proposed rates.) This represents an overall increase of 100%. This increase is needed to pay for increased operation and maintenance costs as well as capital improvement expenses to repair the aging system. If approved, a residential customer would see the monthly bill increase from $27.00 to $54.00, an increase of $27.00 per month or approximately 100 percent. A commercial customer would see the monthly bill increase from $44.50 to $89.00, an increase of $44.50 per month or approximately 100 percent. The rate case completed and submitted to the Commission demonstrated justification to raise rates for residential customers to $75.50 per month, and commercial customers to $124.00 per month. This would be an increase of around 178%. The System believes this would be too large of an increase for its customers to bear at this time and has requested that rates only be increased by 100%. This application is a proposal, subject to public review and a Commission decision. A copy of the application is available for review at the offices of the Commission and Water Systems Management. The application may also be viewed on the IPUC web site at www.puc.idaho.gov. The application and other case information may be found by clicking on the “WATER” icon, then on “OPEN CASES” and scroll down to Case No. AWS-W-23-01.  Interested parties may submit written comments to the Idaho Public Utilities Commission. • File comments electronically via the Commission website at: www.puc.idaho.gov. (Look for link “Case Comment Form” on the homepage. • Email comments to:  secretary@puc.idaho.gov • Customer may also subscribe to the Commission’s RSS feed for periodic updates via email • Mail comments to: Idaho Public Utilities Commission PO Box 83720 Boise, ID 83720-0074.
