Sandpoint drops two home games to Coeur d’Alene
SANDPOINT – Sandpoint lost to Coeur d’Alene in both halves of a doubleheader at War Memorial Field on Thursday, April 27. Sandpoint lost the first game 15-0 and the second game, 19-4.
In Game 1, the Bulldogs were only able to record two hits against Coeur d’Alene’s Kristine Schmidt. Schmidt pitched five innings and struck out six batters for the Vikings.
Sandpoint’s Kaylee McCown singled to center field in the bottom of the second. Bella Crum singled to right field in the third. The two were able to extend their hitting streaks to three games after Game 1.
For the Vikings, it was Catherine Bakken leading the way going 3-for-4 at the plate driving in six RBI’s. Six different Vikings had multiple hits in the contest.
In Game 2, The Bulldogs went up 1-0 after the first inning thanks to Cadence Skibitsky who tripled and then scored on a passed ball.
After four innings, the Bulldogs only trailed 8-4. Sandpoint was able to capitalize on errors by the Vikings in the third and fourth innings to score three more runs. However, the Vikings put up 11 runs in the fifth which sealed the 19-4 victory.
All 10 Vikings recorded at least one hit in the contest. They were once again led by Bakken who finished with three hits, two runs scored, and two RBIs.
The Bulldogs (0-20) will travel to Moscow for their last two away games of the season on Tuesday, May 2.
