Hey, I’m Evie, the new city and education reporter for the Bonner County Daily Bee. I’m so grateful to get to report on all the stories that make Bonner County exceptional.

I was an unsuspecting junior in college the last time I was fortunate enough to work in a newsroom in March 2020. Little did I know I would be sent home for spring break and never be back. After graduating, moving to North Idaho, and working on the Lake Coeur d’Alene Cruise Boats for a few years, I’m so ready to be back telling stories.

This year has been eventful for me. I went to Hawaii with my family and fiance in January, purchased a small home with the same fiance a few months later, married in May, and started work here at the Daily Bee this week. This season of life is significant for me, and the prospects of an empty canvas are giving me all the serotonin I need.

My greatest challenge as a student was trying to narrow down my interests enough to choose a career path. My childhood was filled with dreams of working in almost every field — archeologist, architect, writer, historian, aviator and mathematician were just a few titles I hoped to hold one day. After my first semester in college, I found myself wondering how choosing a major was ever going to be in the cards for me. But, with a little help from friends and family, I realized that the title of “journalist” is a good title for someone who is interested in a little bit of everything. When you can’t be everything, you can always write about everything.

I graduated from California Baptist University in April 2021 and was ready for a change of scenery, which is what brought me here. Currently, I’m enjoying being newly married. My husband and I spend our weekends huckleberry picking, working on home improvement projects, taking my husky Judah on walks, and making plans to travel while we earn the means to do so. I love hanging out with family, studying indigenous arts and culture, going on outdoor adventures and creating woodburning projects. I’m also always down for a casual debate about anything from philosophy and politics to the best local coffee shops.

I’m eager to be a part of the community and keep everyone informed on all that’s happening in the worlds of city and education. Please feel free to reach out if you have ideas for good stories that you want me to write about at eseaberg@bonnercountydailybee.com
