BOUNDARY COUNTY — A man has been charged with second-degree murder and arson relating to an 2020 incident.

The Boundary County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, in conjunction with the Idaho State Police and Boundary County Sheriff’s Office, announced that Shannon P. Dabbs, 57, was charged with murder in the second degree and arson in the first degree relating to the Sept. 22, 2020, shooting death of Susan Dabbs and residential fire at a Boundary County address, BCSO announced in a press release Wednesday.

Probable cause was found and an arrest warrant was issued July 7. The defendant made his first appearance in Boundary County on Tuesday and is in custody. A preliminary hearing on the charges is currently scheduled for Aug. 10 at 1:30 p.m. in front of Magistrate Judge Justin Julian.

The charges in this case have been the result of almost three years of investigation by the Idaho State Police and Boundary County Sheriff’s Office, with consultation of the Idaho State Fire Marshall and the Spokane division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. The Boundary County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office thanks these agencies for their work in bringing this case to charging.
