SANDPOINT — The submissions for the second phase of the Downtown Waterfront Design Competition have been released for public viewing and comment.

They can be viewed on the city’s website and the Engage Sandpoint app, or in person at today’s Sandpoint Farmers Market.

These designs have been in the works throughout the first two stages of the competition and are intended to offer inspiration for improving the waterfront area and City Beach. City officials plan to incorporate those improvements into their master plans.

Three Phase 2 teams have submitted design packets that will be observed and reviewed before teams present their concepts to a jury on Aug. 15. The public is encouraged to offer feedback on the designs as well as attend the final meeting.

"This is a plan for the people, for the community," competition manager Dan Stastny said previously.

"And we hope that through the process, we'll be able to tie a lot of these different efforts that have been going on within the city together to the point that it will serve as kind of a blueprint or a roadmap for how to go forward for the next number of years to maintain the community to maintain the values of the community and being able to do it in a constructive fashion."

The display will be available at the market beginning at 8 a.m. at Jeff Jones Town Square during the market.

The full exhibit can also be viewed online at sandpointidaho.gov/stage2design.
