Larry Gene Saunders, 73

Larry Gene Saunders, 73, died Aug. 3, 2023, in his home at Spirit Lake, Idaho.

He was born on March 27, 1950, to B. Gene and Dorothy Saunders in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Larry served in the Navy during the Vietnam war with an honorable discharge.

He married Carol Sue Davidson on Oct. 11, 1974. They had nine children, 26 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, whom he would glowingly mention when anyone asked about his family.

He proudly worked as a letter carrier for the United States Post Office.

He was an avid bowler, coin and stamp collector, puzzler, genealogist, Scoutmaster, Mariners and Seahawks fan. He made friends everywhere he went including the grocery store. He was quick to notice if anyone needed a helping hand. He was patient and kind.

Larry is survived by his wife, Carol Sue; children, Darin (Hiliary), Gregory (Sindi), Frank (Cynthia), Nina, Brandy (Jeffrey), Page, Caleb, Quincy (Bekah), and Katie Sue (Robert); grandchildren Cammy, Katlin, Hallie, McKenna, Wren, Breanna, Jada, Brandon, Malia, Frank, Thomas, Zabora, Amirra, Annelise, Evangeline, Lyra, Emmri, Tauren, Sephronia, Alexis, Gaia, Isis, Tetra, Finnian, and Winnifred, Alianna; and great-grandchildren: Albert, Adelaide, Theodore, Sophie, Lucas, Adam, Nevaeh and Aphrodite. He is also survived by his sisters, JoAnne, Patti and Jeanne.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gene and Dorothy; and brother, Duane.

Graveside services will be 12 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, at Pack River Cemetery, 7710 Colburn Culver Road, Sandpoint, Idaho. Larry will be receiving military honors.

His celebration of life will take place 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the VFW Post, 1325 Pine St., Sandpoint, ID. Come share your favorite memories of Larry with friends and family. Food will be potluck. Please bring your favorite dish.
