Why are Festival at Sandpoint traditions disappearing?

Having attended the festival for 30-plus years as well as volunteering for 18 years, I was saddened that the board of directors has apparently decided to no longer have the American flag presented and the national anthem sung at the beginning of the shows.
Only in one of the three shows I attended was the national anthem sung, initiated by the opening act musician on their own...
