Aug. 3 – Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Reese, Sandpoint, boy, 8 lb. 1/2 oz. Aug. 5 – Mr. and Mrs. Dean Press, Sandpoint, boy, 6 lb. 11 oz.

CITY CURBS WATER USE
Until further notice, Sandpoint residents are prohibited from sprinkling or irrigating between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. The action was taken to assure adequate water for fire protection in business hours during the hot, dry weather. If the weather pattern continues, further restrictions may be necessary.

FAIR TO SPAN THREE WEEKENDS
Segments of the 1973 Bonner County Fair will be held three separate weeks, led off by the 4-H horse show Aug. 11-12. The main portion of the fair will be Aug. 23-25, with 4-H and open class entries at 1 p.m. Wednesday. The final event is the three-day Bonner County Horse Show Aug. 31-Sept. 2. All activities will be at the Bonner County fairgrounds.

MISS MARQUEZ IS 2ND RUNNER-UP
Miss Naomi Marquez was named second runner-up in Idaho’s Miss Teenage America. She was also named most photogenic teenager and won a $250 scholarship. A student at Sandpoint High, Naomi is the daughter of Ben and Laura Marquez, Sandpoint.

Aug. 8, 1948 – ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED
Mrs. Charles [Eleanor] Carter, Sagle, announces the engagement of her sister, Maryetta Brodkord, daughter of J. Brodkord, Kootenai, to Herbert C. Mayer. Miss Brodkord is a University of Idaho junior. A graduate of St. Joseph’s hospital in Lewiston, she was an army nurse for four years, two of them in the South Pacific. Mr. Mayer, a University of Iowa graduate, is a U of I mathematics instructor.

PACK RIVER PLANER ADDS NIGHT SHIFT
The Pack River Lumber company’s planing mill at Dover added a permanent night shift this week. The new eight-man shift brings to nearly 60 the number of employees at the planer. The company’s sawmill at Colburn, one of the few in the region to operate continuously this spring, has been running two shifts steadily since spring, employing about 50 men. The additional shift at the Dover planer was necessitated by increased production at the sawmill and additional supplies of lumber from other sources.

KIWANIS WORK DAY FRIDAY AT CAMP
President Lou Rahskopf asks all members of the Kiwanis club who can, to turn out Friday at 3 p.m. to the camp at Mirror lake for another stint of work on the buildings being constructed. After work there will be a picnic supper. Fire Chief Simon is to officiate again at the coffee pot.
