Aug. 10, 1973 – TROOP 167 AT JAMBOREE
Sandpoint’s Scout Troop 167, especially for the handicapped, visited Jamboree West Saturday, said Scoutmaster Ralph Dazey. They had a ball visiting a mining exhibit, conservation display, water quality control display and, of course, a trading post. Tom Sutton accompanied troop members Bobby Gregg, Billy Warrer, Stanley Rucker, Wayne Cornella, Brian Gross, and Butch Perry. The Audie Murphy Chapter, D.A.V., sponsors the troop. The boys’ uniforms were donated by Goodwill Industries; local merchants donated red berets and neckerchiefs; Mrs. Preston Mikesell, widow of the Sandpoint teacher who worked with handicapped youth, gave six pup tents; and Harold Dailey drove the boys to the Jamboree.

CROY TO TEACH ENGLISH THIS YEAR
Paul Croy of Hope has signed a contract to teach in the English department of the Sandpoint high school the coming school year. Mr. Croy’s book of poems, “Old Blazes,” which is profusely illustrated with photographs by Ross Hall, is gaining wide recognition as a literary accomplishment. The first edition sold out rapidly and a new edition is now on sale. Mr. Croy, born in Hope, has lived in this vicinity most of his life. He previously taught and coached two years at Sandpoint high, but was absent for two years while completing and publishing “Old Blazes.”
